Caritas is Latin for "Love for all People.”
Caritas exists to foster meaningful relationships by serving exceptional food, regardless of the ability to pay, and by partnering with the community to provide programs and learning experiences for everyone.
Caritas Community Center and Cafe, inspired by the wide diversity of Binghampton, will be known as a welcoming place to connect, grow, learn and be nourished
Our lower level is a coffee shop that also works as a music/library/game-playing living room and den. Clean, brightly colored, and spacious, the coffee-shop serves an impressive variety of delicious lunches Monday through Saturday.
Caritas is also home to the Hope Gallery and the Caritas Arts Residency Program that helps promote art education in the Binghamton community. We offer free art workshops for both kids and adults on a variety of arts and crafts projects. We also provide exhibition space for beginning and upcoming artist each month with several group shows a year.
We're also home to Centro Cultural a non-profit organization that strives to meet the needs of the multi-cultural community by celebrating and promoting awareness of cultural richness and diversity interpreted through the literary, performing, and visual arts.
LIVE, LOVE, SHARE & LEARN:
Caritas uses art, music, hospitality, theatre, classes, and connections to creatively join people together in common goals from many different ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Stop by the Caritas Cafe and have a cup of coffee or lunch. There is a charge for the food, but everyone who is hungry eats, whether they can pay or not.
